FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beaumont, CA - The underground Animal Liberation Front rescued 468 chickens
from an egg factory farm in the early morning hours of March 17th. This is
the second time the company, Sunny-Cal Eggs, has been targeted by the ALF.
Last June over six hundred baby chicks were liberated from Sunny-Cal and
placed in a sanctuary. The ALF videotaped that raid which depicted activists placing
chicks into carriers, and showed the horrendous conditions these animals live
their short lives in.
The Animal Liberation Front is an international underground movement of
people who take non-violent direct action against animal abuse industries. These
actions include liberating animals and property destruction. The ALF
adhere to a strict code of non-violence which states that no injury or death must
come to any animal or human in the course of the action. In the twenty years of ALF
activity in North America this guideline has never been breached.
The North American ALF Press Office is run independently and separately from
the ALF, and is not a participant in illegal activities. The Press Office
receives and forwards information from the underground activists.
Interviews are available from the contact number above. Video tape of the ALF
action against Sunny-Cal last June is also available to media.
The full text of the Sunny-Cal Communique is as follows:
"In the early morning hours of March 17, 2001, members of the ALF
liberated 468 young chickens from Sunny-Cal Eggs in Beaumont, CA. These animals will be
placed in good homes where they will never be crammed into a cage, and forced
to stay awake all hours to produce more eggs (more profits). This is the
second time this farm was raided -- last June, 613 baby chicks were liberated, and
video footage of the horrendous conditions on this farm was released.
