ГVIENNA (DEC. 6) UPI - The corpse of the so-called Simulaun Г
ГIce Man discovered in the fall in glacier ice on the Г
ГAustrian-Italian border is between 4,616 and 4,866 years Г
Гold, ORF, the Austrian radio station, reported Friday. Г
Г Г
ГThe report followed carbon-dating tests by universities and Г
Гscientific institutes in Uppsala in Sweden and Paris on Г
Гgrass found at the site, ORF said. Г
Г Г
ГOfficials at the University of Innsbruck who first received Г
Гthe body for examination said Friday that both institutes Г
Гhad received half of the same sample. Г
Г Г
ГThey said the results could be considered accurate as those Г
Гcoming from both scientific institutes coincided. Tests are Г
Гcontinuing on other plant life and samples of wood found on Г
Гthe site, Innsbruck university officials told ORF. Г
Г Г
ГThe corpse was discovered in late September by mountain Г
Гclimbers on the Similaun Glacier. Г
Г Г
ГScientists have said it is one of the most important finds Г
Гof the early Ice Age. The body was freeze-dried and remains Г
Гof clothing and equipment found at the site indicated the Г
Гman was equipped for high alpine areas at the time of his Г
Гdeath. Г
