I visited my travel agent yesterday and got my airline tickets for the
Clearwater Memorial Picket. My travel agent asked me what I was going
to be doing in Clearwater and I told her that I was going to protest
the murder of Lisa McPearson who was kidnapped, tied up, and starved to
death at the Fort Harrison Hotel. "We're going to be picketing the
Hotel staff," I saisd, not wanting to mention the Scientology crime
syndicate. I rarely mention my hobbies outside of my department since
I don't wish to unexpectedly offend anyone.
The response was unexpected but delightful: "Oh, I just saw something
about that," she said.
I said, "Yep, they were handed felony indictments last Friday."
She then said, "That's the Scientologists, right?"
After I confirmed that, she covered in summation her dealings with
the cult, including the following:
As I collected my tickets and was leaving, she told me to have fun
and "do good work." I fully intend to participate and show
my disfavor with a cult that does these kinds of things as a matter of
criminal ideology; absolutely. While my travel agent said she didn't
have Internet access, she told me she knew all about Scientology from
her experiences and the experiences of her friends and family.
Another Big Win for the cult. Everyone hates these criminals, in fact,
and that was confirmed later that day when I stopped by QA and told
people I was leaving. "Those creeps need some shaking up," I was
told by one guy. Another guy suggested that collecting baseball cards
would be cheaper and he further suggested that they're going to find
my body floating in pieces in the Florida everglades.
It seems that _everyone_ knows what Scientology is.
