Guess what! We've already received rebuttals and replies from dedicated Scientologists, so I guess there must really be Scientologists who post here! I guess that is why I'm reading "Dianetics" and "Scientology", so I can actually argue with the Sci's who say, "well, I can't argue with you, you havent't read <book by LRH>." And let me tell you, LRH was WACKO! Aside of the fact that most of "Scientology" and "Dianetics: A Modern Science Of Mental Health" reads like it was written by a 16 year-old with a G.E.D. diploma, for 16 year-olds with G.E.D. diplomas, it also reads like my psychology class' textbook, specifically the chapters on Freud. For example, Scientology cites psychoses to be caused by Mother influences and Father influences, at least "engrams" dating back to pre-natal and childhood years. Second, Freud came up with the concept of engrams and engram chains long before Dianetics did (is Freud credited? No way hosea!). Thirdly, Freud's Conflict-->Stress-->Defense Mechanisms-->Psychoses chain of reasoning to explain why people's personalities are the way they are, soundsa heck of a lot like Scientology's chain of reasoning: Conflict-->Stress-->Engrams-->Psychoses. So: did LRH really plagiarize off of Freud, or was he a secret supporter of Freud, who, upon Freud's loss of respect within the psychological community, rewrote and copied everything into an entirely new package, so that Freud's work, if not his name, could live on throughout the centuries... You decide...
