Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

This is Martin Poulter using a friend's account.
My e-mail account and Web page have been suspended due to threats of legal
action against the University of Bristol by representatives of Scientology.
The complaint is specifically about my posting copyrighted material to
alt.religion.scientology. I believe that what I was doing was within my
rights, but I will now have to stop doing so in order to protect my system
operators.
I have told the university that I will do anything necessary to save them
from further harassment. This will include taking copyrighted material off
my Web page as well as toning down my posts to a.r.s. I have taken care in
my postings to make sure that Scientology do not have a leg to stand on
legally, but the University does not want any involvement in legal action
and I do not want to put the Web service at risk.
I believe that Scientology has chosen this time to strike at its
perceived enemies in the UK. In the last few days, a friend of mine has
been visited by a PI who works for the Scientologist's law firm. Another
has been sent a letter warning him "not to get any ideas".
I hope to be back on the Internet in a few days, but am completely unable
to say when.
I suppose this means that I am at last a bona fide SP.
