Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

I thank all of you for your responses. Frankly, I was suprised that
anyone encouraged me to continue (indeed, I had not actually planned
to). I have ceased the insistent posting of the soc.women debacle,
although Chris Miller will see it again on a.r.s. from time to time.
I was hoping that Chris Miller would respond to these repeated postings
during his allotted Usenet period. I figured about a day of Warnings
would be enough. Apparently he is too intent on pursuing Tom K. on
charges that were dropped by prosecutors.
Alas, Miller has been as evasive on this occasion as in the past..
I am sure you will be relieved to learn that I have decided to begin
posting quotations from The Path To Total Freedom by Roy Wallis (1976,
Columbia University Press: ISBN 0-231-04200-0) which my recent
encounters with a.r.s have prompted me to purchase (another big win for
the Co$). While the book may still be available, it is expensive. I
recently found a copy in a used bookstore.
The following section is a quote from
_Have_You_Lived_Before_This_Life_?,_A_Scientific_Survey_ by L. Ron
Hubbard, The Department of Publications World Wide [Church of
Scientology, East Grinstead], 1968 as quoted in the Wallis book.
_Have_You_Lived...... is described by Wallis as a collection of reports
by auditors and pre-clears of the processing of whole-track (or
past-life) engrams.
This excerpt will probably suprise no one. Consider it a bon bon for
putting up with me. I quote this to solicit comment and further debate.
-----Begin Hubbard quotation cited by Wallis----
Scientologists Report
Located the incident with the command 'Have you ever died?' The E-meter
needle dropped. 'Was it more than 100 years ago?' Needle
dropped...Carried on like this and finally located it at
55,000,000,000,000,000,000...
'Be in that incident.' 'What part of that incident can you confront?' and
we were away. First picture that came was of the sea, great deal of
unreality but by discussion and continuing the question What part of that
incident can you confront? Various other pictures and sensations
uncovered which eventually added up to a section of the incident
concerning a giant Manta Ray type of aquatic creature with the preclear
had seen while underwater...the engram started on [a] spaceship. The
ship had needed an outside repair. On going outside, the preclear had an
acute pain under the arm where the metor had struck, occurred. The Pc
clambers back into the space-ship. later the atomnic engines of the ship
break down and the Pc has to repair these and apparently received
radio-active burns. He finds that he has to leave the ship and so falls
from a ladder into the sea here he encounters the Manta Ray.
----End Hubbard quotation cited by Wallis-----
To be fair, however, Wallis later writes: "Running past-life incidents
as engrams is not, however, typical of contemporary Scientology
technique. Unlike Dianetics, Scientology does not seek to erase the
causes of limitations on the individuals full capacity, since with the
development of the belief in the whole-track, this would be far to
lengthy and arduous a process."
Are there any cosmologists out there who know what was happening in the
universe 55,000,000,000,000,000,000 years ago (sorry, I don't have the
precise date)?
