Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

It's time to play "Name that Quote!"
: [ON JULY 4th, AOL deleted all postings on the Scientology folders on AOL
: which criticized Scientology, leaving all the postings intact by paid
: salesman who collect a commission on anyone they recruit into their nut
: cult.]
"There are alot of things posted we certainly don't agree with....but we
don't remove them just because they're controversial."
"Even though I wouldn't post it myself, unless it's something that's
libelous or that violates AOL TOS then we don't censor subscribers."
That was an AOL Board Host, talking to the San Jose Mercury News. The Air
Force pilot who flew the rescue mission for Scott O'Grady, the pilot
downed in Bosnia, had seen his e-mail account of the rescue posted to some
other bulletin boards. He specifically requested the Board Host not to
post it on AOL because it contained classified information.
When it was posted there, the Board Host refused to delete it, and crowed
to the press about AOL's strong stance on freedom-of-speech.
