Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

I just saw an old Fifth Estate (Canadian TV) program for the first
time. Gerald Armstrong, an ex-Scientologist, said he and his friends
(while he was still in the church) had discussed getting a gun and
shooting a public critic of the church who had been a high-ranking
Scientologist. I saw Margery Wakefield on Florida Public TV state that
she and some other Scientologists had decided to dump a wayward member
into the ocean, but when they went to get him he had escaped (she's an
ex-member). Steven Fishman (another ex-member) stated that he believes
there was a murder that involves the church. And, L. Ron Hubbard wrote
R2-45, which is a method to go exterior from your body by being shot in
the head with a .45 pistol. Hubbard even wrote an order to apply this
method to certain individuals.
The Garry Scarff deposition has Scarff stating he was ordered to
murder Cynthia Kisser, director of the Cult Awareness Network, although
he never carried it out.
These are disturbing me more lately. As the church begins to
collapse, there will be more and more pressure on the hierarchy to do
more and more desperate things to keep the church intact. I write the
above not to scare anyone but to put the church on notice that, should
they revert to physically harming people, there is ample evidence already
in the public domain which shows prior tendencies toward destructive
behavior toward the church's perceived enemies. Such tactics will
instantly work against the church and would result in its final collapse.
I know of no cases where the church has actually been proven to
physcially harm some critic. I do know that there is a violent side of
the church. Overboarding from the ship the Apollo was violent enough to
have broken someone's arm (this was John McMaster, I think). There are
many cases of people stating they were held against their will at times
while they were under church employment. Steve Fishman told me that
while he was being interrogated once in the church that his superior cut
off a small portion of his skin, held it in front of Steve's face and
said "now confront your body." I heard that some of the upper hierarchy
officers sometimes ran around in a fancy uniform where a dagger was a
part of the outfit.
Maybe we should be glad the church prefers to use the court system to
attack its critics, and private investigators to harass them. It could
be much worse. I hope it doesn't happen. But, with this violent side,
the church may be unintentionally encouraging some unstable member to
commit a violent act against someone they feel is impeding the salvation
of this planet. I hope they are taking measures to educate their members
that violence against critics is illegal, immoral, against church policy
(even though the Fair Game policy says otherwise), and counterproductive.
