Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

I disagree. Most people would accept the ability to go to the
library amnd check a citation against court records as an
objective proof of the existence of the court case in question.
This is what I know about CoS.
I am citing court trial numbers where necessary--each of these
admittedly savage indictments of the church is a matter of
public record, and each is a direct result of the actions of the
church, not its critics.
o E-meter condemned by US FDA 1971, in a ruling in which the
court describes Hubbard's claims as a fraud and quackery.
Case No. D.C. 1-63, United States District Court, District of
Columbia, July 30, 1971 (333 F.Supp. 357).
o Eleven senior scientologists imprisoned on criminal charges in
a case in which many other scientologists were named as unindicted
co-conspirators--including the church founder L. Ron Hubbard.
Founder's wife Mary Sue Hubbard sentenced to a five year prison
sentence and the maximum fine penalty.
The charges related theft of government property and alteration or
destruction of government records relating to the cult. No US
government office was safe from the Scientologists.
In a sentencing memorandum, the US Government, prosecuting, said:
"It is the position of the United States that each and every one of
the defendants herein fulfilled his duties as expected by the Church
of Scientology, that all of their criminal activities, as well as
those of all unindicted co-consiprators, were carried out in
furtherance of the very goals of their church. The very policies of
the church, as reflected by its Guardian Orders, called for the
execution of massive criminal conspiracies and rewarded the
participants for their success in carrying out these criminal
policies."
o Critic of the church Paulette Cooper, a journalist who wrote a
book called "The Scandal Of Scientology" was deliberatelty harassed
almost to the point of insanity by a deliberate church plan which
came to light as a result of FBI raids on church premises. The
plan, Operation Freakout, involved impersonating Paulette Cooper,
making bomb threats traceable to her, and making anonymous and
false accusations against her. It was brought to light in the
Jane Kember trial, District Court, DC, criminal case #78-401.
There are more. I could quote Judge Paul Breckenridge, Justice Laity,
the German Labor Court, the French court that convicted L. Ron Hubbard
in his absence when he skipped the French jurisdiction, and many other
court verdicts against the church of scientology and its founder and
prominent members. I could quote the affidavits of many former senior
members describing the way the church has treated its members in the
past. I could quote HCO bulleins and Guardian Orders which act as
savage self-indictments of your cult.
