BTW, I get the early edition of the RMN, has anyone found articles that I've missed in other later editions? If so, please e-mail me a reply. (Typos mine, used without permission) -- Michael Reuss Honorary Kid *************************************************************************** Editor's headline: "It's incredible that any court would authorize the Scientology raid" Other than having a healthy suspicion of organized religions, I have no particular opinion on Scientology or its critics. The particulars of the dispute between the Scientologists and Larry Wollersheim are irrelevant, but I find it utterly incredible that in the United States of America any court could authorize one group of private citizens to raid another citizen's home and seize any property they want. This violates due process, First Amendment free speech rights, and the spirit of freedom that seems to be slipping rapidly away from us in this country. I know victims of theft who were unable to recover their posessions being held by the police until the trial of the suspected thief had been completed. Yet in this case, the Scientologists were allowed to take not only materials they claim are copywrited[sic] but anything else they wanted. This is outrageous! The judge who authorized this, the raiders, their attorneys and any agency that participated in the raid should face criminal charges. Any religion that regards its "scriptures" as trade secrets is highly suspicious on its face, and any organization that can engieer such a travesty of justice is a danger to every freedom loving American. A major investigation of the Church of Scientology should be undertaken immediately. Ed Skibbe Lakewood [Lakewood is a suburb of Denver CO]
