1. What is the CoSMedia Mailing List? It is an e-mail list for the notification of media attention on the Church Of Scientology (TM). Participants will receive e-mail messages informing them of upcoming and recent media events involving the Cos. Note, I don't see this list as a particularly 'pro-scientology' or 'anti-scientology' list. It is purely informative.

2. Why did you set it up? Many people post messages like this to alt.religion.scientology, however ars is a very busy group, and it is easy to miss messages. Also, if you don't check it every day, it's very easy to miss notifications.

3. How do I join? e-mail CoSMedia-Request@drink.com with the subject 'subscribe'. If it works, you should get a message describing the list, how to leave & so on. If you don't get a message within 24 hours, or you have other problems, then e-mail CosMedia-Admin@drink.com and ask for help.

4. How do I leave? e-mail CoSMedia-Request@drink.com with the subject 'unsubscribe'. You will not receive a confirmation of being unsubscribed. If you have any problems, e-mail CoSMedia-Admin@drink.com and ask for help.

5. Can I sign up my friend? No. You must subscribe yourself if you wish to receive this list.

6. Who can send articles, and how can they do it? Anyone can send articles, regardless of if they are on the list or not. Simply e-mail your article to CoSMedia@drink.com.

7. Submission guidelines Articles should be brief, describing the newspaper, radio program, or TV station. In the case of TV stations, please use the name of the network rather than the local syndicate if appropriate. Channel numbers are particularly undescriptive. My channel 9 is not the same as your channel 9. Please make the subject line as descriptive as possible, this will allow people to decide if they are interested without reading the entire message. All dates should be in US format ( MM/DD/YY or MM/DD/YYYY ), or any non-ambiguous format.

8. What Articles should I send? Any information about upcoming, current, or recent newspaper, radio programs or TV programs. Particularly interesting are + The date & time of an event, e.g. "Extra on 29/12/97 will have an article on Lisa McPherson" + The content of an event, e.g. "CBS 60 Minutes will be interviewing Ken Moxon about CAN v COs"

9. What Articles should I not send? Normally, information about web pages, movies & books are not appropriate. These materials are all relatively long term, and should be announced in other ways. If a webpage is expected to only be up for a very short time, for example a website that expires news articles every 24 hours, then it may be appropriate. Discussion about a past program is also not appropriate.

10. Isn't this just a big copyright violation? This is a mailing list for alerts, not the actual content. A typical message will say something like "Today's New York Times contains an article discussing John Travolta & Bill Clinton's alleged love child".

11. How do I know when TV program will be shown locally? In the US, check the TV Guide ( http://www.tvguide.com/tvlistings), or yahoo ( http://tvguide.yahoo.com/tvguide/ ). In Ontario, Canada, check TheToob (http://www.tmstv.com/cgi-bin/tvcgi.tos) If you have details for any other part of the world, please let me know.

12. Privacy. I will not voluntary give out the e-mail address of any subscriber or submitter to anyone except to the subscriber themselves.

13. Editorial. I, or any person I nominate to serve in my place, reserve the right to edit or reject submissions. I will make my best efforts to verify the accuracy of any submission, but I cannot be responsible for any omission or inaccuracy.
