LETTER: SLEEPING IN A GARAGE DOESN'T MAKE YOU A CAR
Robert Yount's letter about opposing same-gender marriage makes many
good points, but also makes him look like a fool. Yes, most opposed to
same-gender marriage aren't violent. Why, though, does he link the
success of opposite-gender marriage to the legal and financial
benefits? Maybe he didn't marry for love, but most people I know do.
He questions why same-gender couples should be entitled to these
benefits. Why not? Why should the law treat people differently based
on marital status at all?
As an aside, he thinks that gays can change their sexual
orientation. He can't, so I don't understand why he thinks I can.
These so-called "changeover" cases are people who want to go back in the
closet. Just because you sleep in a garage doesn't make you a car.
