Subject: Bridge Publications' "Stat Push," Ron says ...

Hi fellow Scientologists,

Perhaps some of you may not be aware that it's off-policy to push stats in any of our Scientology orgs or corporations.

The reason I bring this up is because of the recent collusion of Bridge Publications and Walden bookstores. The overt is deceiving and misrepresenting the public with a false "#20 bestseller" by giving credit to Walden bookstores for all the "What is Scientology" books that were sold WITHIN our own Scientologist membership.

This created a surge in booksales during one week for Walden bookstores because of a recent IAS event that caused the totally "cooked" stat of ... a "public rush" to buy the new book.

PR and Scientologists now brag about how WiS as the #20 bestseller ... where in actuality, it only happened due to purchases by EXISTING Scientologists in our membership.

This is called "STAT PUSHING."

I'll quote a little by Ron and it will become clear. It's from HCO PL 20, Sept 1976, Executive Series 17 called "THE STAT PUSH"

"one must have a pretty clear idea of exactly what is meant by "Don't push stats."

"one has to know precisely that STATISTICS ARE AN INDICATOR: THEY ARE NOT AN OBJECT.

WHEN YOU PUSH THE INDICATOR, YOU DO NOT OBTAIN THE OBJECT IT REPRESENTS.

PRODUCTION IS COMPLETED CYCLES OF ACTION, NOT JUST NUMBERS.

The figure "1" in "1 apple" is not the apple.

Therefore pure, raw, naked stat pushing is an outpoint called "wrong target."

Pushing a stat without doing anything to bring about the stat is therefore an aberation."

Its obvious per Ron that Bridge Publications and a few Scientologists have some kind of 3D aberation about pushing stats. They bought into this idea and promoted the lie of "rigging the books" with the false stat to make it reach #20 bestseller.

I'm sorry to see this lost sense of personal integrity for the benefit of the "greatest good" to promote the FALSE public image that massive amounts of broad public are buying "What is Scientology?" It's a poor PR attempt to make Scientology "look good" and give Scientologists the false sensation that Scientology is "broadly" excepted and raw public are running out to buy the book. It's a totally untrue picture.

SOLUTION: Quit the lying and quite pushing falses stats by "cooking the books". Scientologists should NOT help org staff with any deception. Staff need to be honest with public Scientologists and raw public with REAL statistics.

Every responsible Scientologist (staff and nonstaff) should review the Code of Honor, Code of a Scientologist, and our Church Creed as their stable datums regarding their actions.

Yours for telling the truth, Safe
