Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copoyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Tilman asked this question on 4/24/2000:
In your profile you said you can correct "negative misinformation."
According to literature, the actual belief of scientologists is that
they are possessed by the spirits of space aliens ("body thetans")
murdered by the evil galactic emperor Xenu, and these spirits are
therefore responsible for spiritual mayhem in the scientologists' minds,
and that these "body thetans" must be "audited out" one
by one, but this isn't told upfront to the parishioner.
I would like to know if this is accurate or not. If yes, why is it not
mentioned on the official sites? For example, christians have no problem
to reveal that they believe a guy died for our sins and then popped back
up from the dead.
If no, I would like to know which part is inaccurate and what is the
correct data (please provide exact references that I can verify). After
all, there are many UFO religions on this planet who tell their beliefs
to everyone.
Greg Churilov gave this incorrect answer on 4/24/2000:
Scientology is not about space aliens, in the same way that Christianity
is not about Tennis, and Islam is not about Dolphins.
You can learn a lot about the ACTUAL nature of Scientology by visiting

Center, or calling 1-800-FOR TRUTH.
I have been a Scientologist for over eighteen years. In all those years
I have received one-on-one counseling addressing marriage, relnscience,
aspects of career, family troubles, etc.
I have taken many many courses having to do with communication, Ethics,
management, relationships, responsibility, competence, assertiveness,
etc.
I have NEVER taken a course about space aliens :-)
Eighteen years and he doesn't know about Xenu, body thetans, and what
Scientology is all about yet? Eighteen years and he still hasn't
twigged to the frauds yet? I wonder how much money he's sunk into the
cult so far and yet still hasn't paid up enough for OT3 - flr]
There is a small group of extremely disgruntled individuals who have
been thrown out of the Church and have banded together to smear
Scientology on the Internet. Several of these individuals are currently
involved in court proceedings vs. the Church.
These people are NOT unbiased sources of information.
One would not go to Hitler to learn about the jewish faith. In the
same vein, I would not recommend listening to these bigots in regards
to Scientology (or anything else, for that matter).

Subject: scientology about space aliens?
[I've checked that web site -- indeed all of Scientology's web sites --
and they don't cover what Scientology is about. And none of the offices
of this criminal cult are going to tell people who walk in off the street
what Scientology is all about either. Nobody would purchase the cult's
materials if they knew what they were buying. It would be a mistake to
call any of the cult's 1-800 numbers since that gives them your telephone
number and, through reverse look-up, your address - flr]
[It looks like Greg has not purchased the OT3 package yet or perhaps
he has purchased it and knows all about Xenu and body thetans but is
trying to lie his way out of an embarrassing truth about Scientology.
[What's interesting is that in addition to denying the contents of
Scientology's OT3 package, Greg also has to try to claim that it's some
kind of vendetta created by people who fell into Scientology and then
escaped. If he ever scrapes up enough money to purchase OT3, perhaps
he'll open the first page, read exactly what these "small
group of extremely disgruntled individuals" have been saying all
along, realize that his cult leaders have been lying to him, and then
demand all the money back he's been swindled out of - flr]
[Setting aside the traditional reference to Hitler, one also doesn't go
to Scientology to ask about Xenu and body thetans either. The truth
about Xenu and body thetans isn't sold to people who fall into the cult
until they've paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for the OT3 package.
So it's possible this guy isn't knowingly telling an untruth. It all
depends upon how much money the guy had - flr]
[You won't find anything about Xenu on any of Scientology's web sites.
Not one word. Since it's an "Advanced" text and was once a
"trade secret" (before a judge dismissed that notion) the cult
won't mention what Scientology is actually about. When people learn
about Xenu and the flying saucers and L. Ron Hubbard's poor science
fiction basis for Scientology, they don't buy into it and so telling
people about Xenu before hand adversely impacts their revenues. Because
of it you won't find the cult mentioning Xenu anywhere - flr]
