Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copoyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Anonymous asked this question on 1/29/2000:
hello greg,
In your answer you talked about philosophy, which in plain language
is nothing more than fallable human reasoning.
Personally, I cannot see what philosophy has to do with what gods
will is.
let's play god for a minute. If you were god would allow there to be
truth in everything, or would you set up an organized system of worship,
which like your "good philosophy", would acheive good
results,
As opposed to g mankind to wallow in the confusion of human
reasoning? why is it that in everyday life we can see that, while
everyone is entitled to their opinion, not every opinion is valid.
But when it comes to the subject of religion, we can't see that the
same fundamental truth must apply. Just as a person can choose be
a drug addict and yet his choice is not neccessarily wise, so to, one
can choose to worship god as it pleases him, but certainly every
choice can't be a "good philosophy".
What we have to understand is that except for skin color, and hair
texture, all human beings are the same, and therefore whatever the
truth is, it must be the same truth for all mankind. just as all
25" inch Televisions by the same maker have the same instruction
manual, otherwise you would have chaos.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Thanks for your response,
Greg Churilov gave this freakish response on 2/1/2000:
To follow your analogy, there is not ONE true religion in the same
way that a 25" color TV is not best suited for every home. Some
people have large rooms - big creen TV. Some people can barely afford
a B&W 13". some people need something to travel with.
Some people want a projection TV.
Religion is NOT the word of God. Religion is MAN'S attempt at
deciphering the will of God and coming closer to God.
Philosopg God, at understanding oneself, and understanding the universe.
In terms of owner's manuals, the Bible did a fairly good job for
shepperds in Judea, but would be grossly inapplicable to aboriginal
tribes in Australia. The Quran was good in terms of arab frames of
reference.
They all have their virtues and failings.
However, to state my personal belief, there is one LINE of philosophy
which is the truest and best "owner's manual" for the human
soul. this line came from the Vedas, through Darmha and Gautama Buddha.
Jesus borrowed from this philosophical line in his teachings. This
line civilized all of Asia.
This line of philosophy and religion became diluted and faded into
superstition in the fifth or sixth centuries.
Scientology is an excellent attempt by a great Twentieth Century
philosopher to create an applicable and systematic approach based on
this philosophic heritage.
If one applies Scientology as written, one achieves all the spritual
goals sought by the many religions of man. Greg
