Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copoyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

Subject: Praise and Criticism

Phobos1 asked himself this question on 4/27/2000:

This is an exercise I like to use to assess the objectivity of anyone who strongly advocates a position, either for or against. To those experts who count themselves as critics of the Church of Scientology, I'd ask you to tell me something you think is good or positive about the organization. To those experts who consider themselves Scientologists in good standing, I'd like you to tell me something about either Dianetics or Scientology that you disagree with or die of.

Greg Churilov gave this insane meandering answer to himself on 4/28/2000:

Excellent question! Well, the main thing that I strongly disagree with is the current handling of all these "critics". I believe they have issues, some of them may be valid grievances that have gone unhandled and fostered this hatred over time, who knows. I believe a more open dialog with them would solve a ton of problems. Another thing I disagree with is the lack of focus on Youth Groups, a focus that the C Also, I believe that MOST of the grievances and problems people have had with Scientology do not stem from the philosophy but from placing people in positions of responsibility that they are not always qualified to handle. This leads to the ocassional screw-up. This is a common malady of non-profit groups, who are usually undestaffed and under-funded. But just the same it could be improved on. One of my strongest disagreements is that there is not enough of a differenciation from Dianetics Centers and Scientology Churches. These two organizations are related, but not the same. Dianetics is NOT a Religious organization, but a self-improvement science of the Mind. Scientology is an applied Reliious Philosophy. A wider differentiation would make it easier on people to seek that which is right for them.
