Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copoyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Anonymous asked this question on 4/27/2000:
What does the word Scientology mean?
Greg Churilov gave this incorrect answer on 4/28/2000:
Is is a combination of the word "scio-" (as in "science"
or in "senses") which means to KNOW, and the word
"-logos" which means to LEARN.
He was, as a result of too many criminal trials and charges against he and
his organization, ordered to disband his criminal organization that he
created under the name "Dianetics." He renamed his criminal
organization from "Dianetics" to "Scientology" to
escape punishment for not disbanding his criminal organization as ordered.
Hubbard wanted to pretend that Dianetics and Scientology weren't the same
thing repackaged to avoid the law.
As an aside, Hubbard did the same thing when he renamed the criminal
paramilitary domestic terrorist group he called his "Guardian's
Office" to the "Office of Special Affairs." He also did
it again when he was ordered by the IRS to disband the "WISE"
company front by renaming the fake front by tacking an
"International" to the end of the name - flr]
It means learning how to know, or knowledge in the fullest sense.
It presupposes that all answers are knowable, and seeks to answer
the deepest questions of our lives, such as Who are we? Where do we
come from? What is Life about? etc.

Subject: What does the word Scientology mean?
[That's a whopper. The word "e;Scientology" was contrived by Hubbard
after his criminal organization repeatedly got punished by the Food and
Drug Administration and other health organizations for practicing medicine
without a license.
[And one can try to get an honest answer out of any of the cult's brainwashed
victims to see just how well that notion works, unfortunately - flr]
[And Scientology covers these questions by telling you you're infested with
invisible murdered space aliens that need to be scraped off of you before
you can rid yourself of "your reactive mind." After you "go
clear," you are able to use your superhuman powers and, according to
the cult's mad messiah, can "knock people's hats off at 50 feet."
There are a lot of insane notions that cultists are told they will gain
once they "go clear" that no one has yet exhibited - flr]
