Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copoyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

Subject: What is the Scientology cross?

Anonymous asked this question on 4/27/2000:

What is the Scientology cross?

Greg Churilov gave this Satanic lie on 4/28/2000:

It represents the eith dynamics of life: Self, Family, Groups, Mankind, All things living, All things material, All things Spiritual and The Supreme Being.

[That's a "sadly mistaken notion." Hubbard was heavily into Satanism and shared rooms with Jack Parsons and Alester Crowley, practicing what they called "sex magic" that was pretty freakish, even for Hollywood. <smile>

The Scientology cross is what's known as a "crossed out cross." It is an anti-Christian symbol that Hubbard contrived to not-so-secretly disguise his abject hatred of all things Christian. Hubbard claimed that Jesus Christ was an "R6 Implant;" a video movie shown to the galactic citizens Xenu murdered and the implant was specifically designed to control the people and enslave them.

Hubbard put many not-subtle jokes and hints into the carnival scams he rooked his victims with. Among the most obvious is the fact that he called his fraud "going up the bridge." What he sold to his victims is, then, a bridge. Even today when people want to underscore the gullibility of someone, they say "I've got a bridge to sell you." What's interesting is that cultists don't recognize this hint for what it is, and they don't recognize the crossed-out-cross for what Hubbard ment it as - flr]

Incidentally, the cross was used as a religious symbol in Greece centuries before Christianity.
