Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Subject: 'This is our planet- let's take it'
Anonymous asked this question on 5/3/2000:
I believe one should view all sides of a question, finding more often than
not, that the truth sits somewhere in the middle. The "What is Scientology"
reads like an advertisement and seems to have a lot of 'party line' answers
posted here verbatim. Some critics seem to take their paranoia to an
extreme, even claiming the film 'Battlefield Earth" is filled with subliminals.
In the end, I think if you want to know about an organization, you should
listen to how its adherents speak among themselves, and this is where it
gets troubling- I've read a log of a scientologist mailing list, and boy is that
ever troubling. Excerpts:
"I personally like having a *relatively* secure comm line, where we can
discuss strategy, plans and the like. I'd really rather not have to temper
my comm over look over my *cyber shoulder* before posting." (name withheld)
"The more theta we inject into the culture, the more improvement we will see
in the overall tone of society. "This is our planet! No reason not
to take it electronically as well! (name withheld)
"After all, this is OUR planet. Let's get busy taking it over! Can you imagine
a government of Clears & OT's? I can. And what a place this would be if that
were so. Who's going to do it? WE ARE!"(name withheld)
"If we can make enough OT's, I think we can handle the administration of a
planet or two without all the bloodshed, tears and histrionics of "politics" as
we have known it." (name withheld)
How does this jive with the picture being given here by scientologist? "This
is our planet"???
In a scientology world, will we be spared the 'tears and histrionics' of free
elections?
Greg Churilov gave this response on 5/3/2000:
Tell me of ONE religion that does not believe that they would like to see
elected leaders that share their beliefs.
Tell me of ONE political party that does not want to be on top.
Tell me of ONE race that would not want someone of their race elected
president.
OF COURSE Scientologists would like to have more political clout. So do
gays & lesbians, so does the religious right, the socialists, so do blacks
and hispanics and any other minority.
What is so weird about Scientologists wanting that?
And in terms of that posting about privacy of their communication line,
well! Maybe it would've sounded a little
paranoid, if it wasn't that YOU were obviously peeping over their
shoulder, eavesdropping on their private chat, for the purpose of making
their religion look bad.
For the record, every Scientologist I know believes in free elections and
democracy.

Perhaps, but by in large, the groups you mention above weren't founded by
a leader who proposing that a section of the populace be disposed of
"quietly and without sorrow" or that once in power, "the local org will say
what's legal".
