Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Subject: L. Ron Hubbard Unindicted Co-Conspirator
FredricRice asked this question on 5/5/2000:
Since L. Ron Hubbard was named as one of the many unindicted
co-conspirators, does anybody know how he managed to escape justice?
I've read that he went on the lam and hid on a ranch in Northern
California (where he died) but surely the Feds could have tracked him
down if they want to.
Does anybody know if they let him off for a reason? Do you know of
any court documents somewhere on the Internet that cover why they
let him go?
Thanks.
barb131 gave this response on 5/6/2000:
As far as I know, he was unindicted because he was hiding. He let his
wife take the rap, however.
I'm sure you'll find details at www.xenu.net

From what I can gather of the available court documents, L. Ron Hubbard
went on the lam when the Feds came down on his criminal organization.
He fled and hid out on a Ranch in Northern California.
Still, I've seen nothing about any deals that the crook might have made
to keep the Feds off of him. I still have to think that the good guys could
have found him if they thought he was worth going after. And since the
Feds had all the documentation they needed to show that he ran the ring,
I think they would have had enough incentive to go after the crook.
Maybe it's true; they just couldn't find him.
