Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to
questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short
while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and
started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I
removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's
also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg
Churilov" cultist was ejected from
askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.
Subject: My jaws hurt
FredricRice asked this question on 5/5/2000:
My jaws hurt every time someone says the word "snap." I was told that
Scientology could help me with this problem.
Is this true?
Thanks.
Irmgard gave this response on 5/6/2000:
Scientologists sure will tell you that they can.
They probably attribute this problem to an engram where you heard,
while unconscious or in (jaw) pain the word "snap".
This engram theory that words heard during unconsciousness are
stored and can be precisely recalled has been scientifically tested in the
fifties - with the result that there is no such recall. Here the link of the
study:
http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~krasel/CoS/dianetics_test.html
But sure, if the pain is psychosomatic it might bring some relief to talk
about it and you might get a placebo effect from dianetics auditing
(there are cheaper placebos available, though ;-) )

Thanks. I'll have to check that URL and extract the relevant portions
