Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

DD_3000 asked this question on5/7/2000:

What in the world is scientologyabout?

honorarykid gave this response on 5/7/2000:

Scientology usually starts out as a deceptive, self-help come-on. Scientology recruiting fronts are manifested as business seminars, drug treatment seminars, criminal rehabilitation programs, Dianetics self-help programs, or you can go directly into a Scientology 'org.'

Whatever way you choose (or which chooses you, through deception) the introduction is mild and reasonable sounding. You'll be routed to a communication course, promised vague but amazing improvements, and introduced to the greatness of L. Ron Hubbard.

Then you get introduced to the Purification Rundown, which is a sold as purely secular when used as part of a drug rehab program, but as a religious ceremony when used in Scientology.

Sooner or later, you get introduced to the idea of going "Clear", a state of super human abilities, where your health and memory are perfect.

Then you do TR drills, and slowly become unknowingly and operantly hypnotized.

You'll find yourself being sold on the infallibility of L. Ron Hubbard.

If you ultimately end up going Clear, only then will you be taught about Xenu and Body thetans, the core belief of Scientology.

This web page (and The Skeptic Tank) is in no way connected with nor part of the Scientology crime syndicate. To review the crime syndicate's absurdly idiotic web pages, check out www.scientology.org or any one of the many secret front groups the cult attempts to hide behind.

Further facts about this criminal empire may be found at Operation Clambake and FACTNet.
