Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

FredricRice asked this question on 5/8/2000:

I've run into some books that Scientology sells. One of them has me wondering if they're selling quack medicine claims. There's this book called "Alergy or asthma rundown auditor course," registration Number tx-3-160-859.

Does anybody know if this text contains quack medicine or practicing medicine without a license? Or is this all a non-medical proceedure?

Thanks.

WickerMan gave this response on 5/9/2000:

Hi. I have not read the book, though there have been Scientologists who have made the claim that "auditing cured" their asthma. One woman was even caught on film stating her mother's "big win from Scientology" was the cure of asthma. This film is available at http://www.xenutv.net

The "NOTs 34" document is said to be filled with claims of cures for illnesses using Scientology "tech."

When Hubbard was alive, he often claimed Scientology could cure everything from the "common cold to cancer."
