Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

Anonymous asked this question on 5/8/2000:

Are WISE businesses violating civil rights laws by requiring their employees to undergo Scientology training?

honorarykid gave this response on 5/8/2000:

WISE is not supposed to exist. In Scientology's secret IRS agreement, they promised to disband WISE. But they haven't. I hope that someday soon, IRS pulls the 501c3 tax exempt status enjoyed by the CoS.

As for employees and training, that's an interesting kettle of fish.

For some reason, Scientology has recruited unusually well in the fields of dentistry and chiropractics.

Several people from these fields have sued their employers for requiring them to go to "business management" and "professional development" seminars, only to find that they are being taught Scientology doctrine.

I don't know if any court has ever ruled this sort of deception to be a violation of civil rights, but it is, at best, a smarmy and distasteful thing for any employer to do to an employee, to push the employer's religious attitudes on the employee, while holding the power of the employees livlihood in his or her hands.

And I'm sure some employers who do this probably aren't aware of all the alleged religious connotations and origins of the materials they are reading, instead wishing only for their employees to learn the crush-sell and hard-sell techniques, and the cutthroat management by statistics principles that their employees are introduced to in these Scientology-run "business" seminars.

But of course, some employers are themselves, dedicated Scientologists who want to help Scientology expand by recruiting all their employees into the church.

Such coercion of employees could be a violation of people's civil rights, depending upon what level of insistence the employer places on attendance.

What is clear is that these programs have a single-minded goal, to deceptively route people into Scientology.

A message that was sent to the Theta News Exchange (TNX) mail list for Scientologists by high level Scientologist Arte Maren confirms this. In the invitation that follows, notice that one of the seminar topics given to Scientology trained consultants is called "Client Delivery Systems-Routing Clients onto the Bridge!"
