The Hidden Secrets of the Scientology Cult
Question answered by HBeer in Scientology
FredricRice asked this question on 7/25/2000:
Again this question is more for Scientologists still stuck inside
of the cult, however I'd like to web everyone's answers.
I'm curious why Scientology's management doesn't tell people
about Xenu and Body Thetans ad everything else that forms
the core of Scientology. I'm curious why the truth about what
Scientology actually is all about had to wait for the court
system to make public.
Thanks!

We will probably never really know the entire truth about
this question.
Fact is that L. Ron Hubbard put an enormous amount of
importance onto this secrecy. Lots and lots of policy is
centered upon the "security" of the "advanced materials".
No matter whether his reasons for this were rational nor
not, the very presence of so much policy makes it nearly
impossible for the church to let go of these patterns.
Fact is also that Hubbard was quite free with informations
about these things in earlier writings. People who read
them in books like "History of Man" just don't know that
this is the same stuff they will encounter on the OT-levels.
Why he changed his mind about keeping them secret is up
to speculation.
Interesting too are his many statements about the value of
mysteries in order to get or keep people's interest and
attention. In the absence of a mainstream agreement that
something like "spiritual hygiene" should be part of our daily
routine, he might have concluded that something else was
needed to keep people working at their cases. The mystery
around the OT-levels might well have been this something.
At the moment where spiritual "dirt" (accumulations of old
negative energies) are removed daily - because we have
our session like we have our shower -, and where spiritual
"muscles" (abilities like visualizing events and then making
them happen) are trained in other sessions - like we go to
the (physical) fitness-center a few times a week -, no
more mystery tricks will be needed to keep people working
at the most important foundation of their lives: their
mental and spiritual fitness and strength.

You know, you're the second person to mention "History of
Man" in that context. Since Hubbard wouldn't tell followers
about Xenu and Body Thetans until they paid large sums of
money, why did he sell History of Man which is just as
improbable?
I think you're right: We'll never know.
Thanks
