Question answered by barb131 in Scientology

formerscientologist asked this question on 5/13/2000:

How do you feel about the freezone? Have you left Scientology or just the church. Do you think the freezone is a worthy group or just more bogus?

barb131 gave this response on 5/13/2000:

I think the Freezone is going to be increasingly important in the near future. My personal feelings about "the tech" is not really relevant, but I've stated here before that I'm not against scientology beliefs, but the actions of the organization.

There is already evidence that David Miscavige is 'squirreling the tech,' that is, changing Hubbard's words. This is strictly forbidden, but there's evidence of changes in various copies of scientology books. Words, even whole paragraphs, have been altered.

Now, in scientology, if you are not making gains, it may be because the tech is squirreled. If DM is squirreling the tech, it means that he is charging for a product that is not as advertised. It means that scientologists are paying MORE for services which will not give them the gains they are expecting.

If this is allowed to continue, some day the only way you'll be able to acquire the 100% Hubbard product will be through the Freezone. If scientologists don't wake up and protest the altering of Hubbard's writing, the tech will go down the tubes except for in the Freezone.

They don't charge for services, either.

David Miscavige, squirreling the tech, could be responsible for the utter collapse of the scientology organization as devout members abandon the orgs for the Freezone in order to receive the tech as Hubbard originally intended, unaltered, intact, and free! It will be his fault for ripping off the most loyal supporters of scientology by selling them a bogus product.

I think the Freezoners have a website at www.fza.org, or .com.

formerscientologist rated this answer:

I have some minor disagreements with you. You said freezoners don't charge for services--some do, some don't.

The Church of Scientology is guilty of squirrel practices, but so are some of the freezoners. The advantage to associating with the freezoners is the freedom of the tech, more freedom of choice, and fewer stops encountered on the way, and far fewer sec checks. Also, there is freedom of speach, so if one is not sure about his auditor, or auditing, he is free to discuss it and get more information.

barb131 gave this follow-up answer on 5/16/2000:

Thanks for the further information. That's really what this board is about, rather than the silly posturing that we indulge in here.

I was misinformed about the Freezone not charging for services in some cases. I have friends who are 'Zonies' who get their services for free, so I thought the whole thing followed that model.

Whether I believe in the tech or not, I support the Freezone. My objections to scientology are truly aimed at the activities of the scientology organization. I know that official scientologists are told that's not true, and they refuse to believe we're not attacking the religious aspects, but I think if there's any good coming out, it will be from the Freezone. Heck, I didn't even know about it until last year!

I don't really think scientology's beliefs are any different from other religious dogma, and unlike some critics, I see room in the world for the Freezone. If auditing helps, and who can discount the claims, well more power to them. As long as practitioners are not abused or ripped off, yay for them!

I hope you'll continue to correct information you encounter here. This has the potential to be a positive tool for knowledge. thanks!
