Public relations -- What are they thinking?
Question answered by barb131 in Scientology
FredricRice asked this question on 7/25/2000:
Another question that's mostly for current Scientologists
however I'd like to web everyone's answers.
After viewing the Scientology cult's insane attacks against
Ursula in Clearwater -- screaming Nazi and other absolutely
insane nonsense -- the public address system in the airport
informed travelers that what they just witnessed was the
Scientology cult.
I'm curious whether Scientologists think that such exposure is
beneficial to their cult's revenues and continued existance.
Surely the cult's management wouldn't be so stupid as to
assume that such public exposures of cult followerss' insanity
helps their bank accounts.
Thanks i advance for your insights into this.

Scientologists exist in a fantasy world of Hubbard's
psychosis. Imagine it as a bubble that shields them from
reality. In this bubble you will find a Twilight-Zone type
parallel universe, where they firmly believe that they are
feared and respected by the rest of humanity.
I have no doubt that the above mentioned demonstration
made the participants believe they had done something
good for the cult, and scored major points against Ms.
Caberta. Additionally, I am sure that it strengthened the
member's solidarity, an important reinforcement of the "us
vs. them" mentality that so many totalitarian groups
enforce.
Scientologists exist in a make-believe world. They believe
what they are told by their leaders. For some reason, they
cannot hear the derisive laughter directed at them from
the real world. They think they are helping people by
suckering them into the cult. They think they are
respected. They think they are fearsome and held in awe
by us mere wogs.
The fear is draining away, as the genius Hubbard never
dreamed of a forum as powerful as the Internet. Through
this forum, they have become silly, deluded pawns of a
crime syndicate in the eyes of the world!

Thanks. It does seem that they do in fact believe it's making
them look sane in the eyes of the public. Thanks.
