Flat worlders....
Question answered by formerscientologist in Scientology
Anonymous asked this question on 8/6/2000:
when will you ever get away from believing the earth to be
flat...the questions here are designed to be provocative and
insinuate criminal activity without proof and without prejudice.
In all cases the questions are coming from a select group of
people whos designs are to destroy religions..I see their
questions on other boards as well. there is only one answer to
this..flat worlders unwilling to change their viewpoint at the
expense of the majority.. so who is the group that is anti
Scientology?
formerscientologist gave this response on 8/15/2000:
There is no one single anti-Scientology group. There are
many different people who are cynical of Scientology for
various reasons.
1. There are materialists who don't believe in spirituality,
and can't see Scientology as anything other than a con
game.
2. There are people who have witnessed strange behavior
in their Scientology friends and family members.
3. There are people who have been hurt by Scientology.
4. There are people who have really liked Scientology and
the auditing but have experienced injustice within the CoS
and couldn't get it corrected.
5. There are people who feel betrayed because after
spending the last of their resources (going bankrupt or
about to be bankrupt), they didn't receive their desired
gains.
6. There are people who have found that open criticism of
Scientology has given them both insight and cognitions.
7. There are people who love Scientology, but despise the
CoS.
8. There are people who believe that a true religion runs off
of charity.
I don't know if I have covered all the critics with the above
categories, but I certainly disagree with Hubbard's
statement that critics of Scientology are criminals. A real
philosopher or any good journalist would be critical of
Scientology and quick to point out any lies.
There is no anti-Scientology group, but critics tend to
cluster on the ars newsgroup.

I have never known a psychiatrist or a psychologist to be
critical of Scientology or Dianetics, but if one ever were
critical, it would probably be because he would see
Dianetics as a "squirrel psychotherapy."
