Dangerous protests?
Question answered by FreeZone in Scientology
Anonymous asked this question on 8/28/2000:
I see that they killed Lisa McPherson but she was a follower,
wasn't she? If I ever decided to protest the criminal
Scientology cult, would I be killed? Are picketers and
protesters ever beaten or killed by these Scientology crooks?
Thank you.

Yes, Lisa M. was a Scientologist. CoS plays various nasty
tricks on critics, but it doesn't kill them. There are certainly
instances of protesters being assaulted. There is some
danger, so you would be well advised to protest with a
partner, or at least a witness taking a video. This reduces
the chance of an actual assault to pretty well zero.
Other tactics are more likely. They will get in your face and
try to upset you, in the hopes that you will lose your
temper. If they get you to lose your temper for a second
and even touch somebody, they will try to have you
arrested for assault. Then there's picketing of homes and
various other tactics. If you want a full rundown of the
tactics CoS uses on protesters, you'd probably get the
most info off ARS. It's something of a snakepit and I don't
usually recommend it, but it does give good info on
protests and the current CoS responses.
