Opinion on mentioning Xenu on the protest lines

Question answered by FreeZone in Scientology

Anonymous asked this question on 9/6/2000:

I'm interested in people's opinions on whether mentioning Lord Xenu while on the protest lines is a good idea or a bad idea.

People picketing the cult have different motives but there does seem to be a desire to help people inside get out. Mentioning Xenu -- the contents of OT3 -- could help them or further entrench follower's committment to the cult.

I'm curious whether people think it's a good idea or a bad idea.

FreeZone gave this response on 9/8/2000:

Being too upfront about Xenu might not help because people in the cult may not know about it. Certainly they didn't in my time, but the material has been far more publicized since.

A great deal of emphasis in the cult is put on the idea that OT III is a huge secret and nobody must find out about it. Puncturing that is a perfectly valid picket operation and might help those inside to start questioning other elements. I would favor myself going at it with a lighter touch. I've always thought 'Ask me about the Wall of Fire' would be a fun slogan for a picket that a lot of CoS members would see.
