Question answered by honorarykid in Scientology

Mr_Rogers asked this question on 10/6/2000:

Doesn't it seem that the people on this board against Scientology are really boring? Suppress means to squash or make nothing of. This is definitely the only action (fruitless) of the anti-scientologists here, but they are so bombastic and self-important that you know they really don't have any sense and are more like a peanut crowd. They are probably paid by the federal government to fund their hopeless addictions or writhing or something, you know? But to assume that they have any credibility is really laughable. And they are boring. Doesn't everyone agree?

honorarykid gave this response on 10/9/2000:

Hi Mr. Rogers,

I for one, don't agree that critics of Scientology are laughable or boring.

I think the political debate going on between the Church of Scientology and it's critics is very interesting. I think critics do a very good job of showing the public some important truths about the CoS.

You mention the word "suppress." Would you like to squash and suppress all criticism of the CoS? Yes, of course you would. So how does an attitude like yours jibe with the rights of people to speak freely, to stand in opposition to oppressive, dictatorial political movements?

Your opinions about people being paid by the government are too ridiculous to merit a response. Your ad hominem insults are ridiculous, too. I wish you were a little less predictable in their usage.

Here's something I hope you will think about. I know that by insulting and sneering and trying to "not-is" the critics of Scientology, you are essentially trying to postulate away our credibility and postulate away our "entheta."

But when you do so, and in such nasty and insulting ways, you're really working to contradict your own postulates. Rather than make us look bad, you make YOU and other Scientologists look bad. You end up proving that what we critics say about Scientology training as a corrupting influence, is true.

IMO, there something fundamentally flawed about having such a belief system.
