non-sequitur
Question answered by escapee in Scientology

what does non-sequitur mean?
escapee gave this response on 9/23/2000:
Basically, out of sequence. 1,2,3,4, is a sequence 1, 2, 7, 4,
the 7 is out of sequence. Scientology has an arbritrary
sequence, called the Bridge to Total Freedom. It is a series
of steps you are supposed to do in sequence. Lots of steps
have been added to the bridge, especially at the lower
levels, and each step costs money. Some things have been
taken off the bridge, such as auditing each other at no
charge on the basis of reading a book.
Over the years the sequence within the bridge has changed
several times, so if you consider the present bridge correct,
anything that doesn't follow it step-wise is out of sequence.
But if you consider that an earlier version was a better
version, then following the steps on the current bridge would
be out-of-sequence.
It has to do with the agreed-up value. We agree 1,2,3,4 so
it is easy to demonstrate.
