Scientology, good or evil?
Question answered by FreeZone in Scientology

Hi, I have read many negative opinions
about Scientology on this site over the last few months. I was
hoping there was some Scientologist out there who could
give me some insight into the religion....(not just the usual
stuff written on the Scientology pamphlets, I've heard it all
before). Eg: what type of personality charactoristics are
derived from the 200 question quiz etc. What are some of the life
tools used to make the most of one's life palette, etc. Why the
secrecy? Please fill me in. I know a few Scientologists (who don't
really seem to take my subtle hints & tell me more about
their religion) however I have always found them to be kind,
generous, positive, empowered, and definately too intellegent to
beleive in dead space aliens and so on. I only want to hear from
members, so if you have a heap of negative crap to send,
please don't do so!! I wan't to learn something here!

For info on the 'personality test', I recommend you look at
the thread "OCA test" which ran recently on the COS
investigations mailing list. You can find it at :
http://www.onelist.com/community/COSinvestigations
Of particular interest is message 2987, which includes an
essay by Ray Kemp, the author of the test, explaining where
it came from, some history if its use, and what it does and
doesn't seek to measure.
Scientologists believe that we are immortal and have had
many past lives prior to the birth of our present bodies.
These lives are not seen as being restricted to the period
that life has existed on Earth, or for that matter the period
that Earth, or even this universe, have been in existence, so
many of them were in civilizations on other planets and
sometimes in other universes. We have been going through
such lives for many, many billions of years, all the time
accumulating failures and defeats. One of the esoteric
(secret) beliefs is that many beings have gone down to the
point where they no longer have the horsepower to run a
body, so become attached to some other being or that
being's body. These are the 'dead space aliens' referred to
by critics.
There are many 'life tools' used by Scientologists, probably
the most basic being the ARC triangle. ARC stands for
Affinity (friendship or affection), Reality (agreement or
common perception) and Communication. By raising one of
these, the others can also be raised. Where there has been
an upset, one of these has been broken, and the upset can
be healed by finding exactly where and how the break
occurred. Understanding exists where all 3 sides of the ARC
triangle are present.
