Can this really be verified?
Question answered by FreeZone in Scientology

Hey, unlike Scientology, is it really true that more people have
died in the hands of psychiatrists than all the people killed in all
the wars America has been in combined?
FreeZone gave this response on 9/19/2000:
It wouldn't surprise me a bit if that was actually true. Most
people do die 'in the hands of' physicians, it doesn't follow
that physicians cause their death. You have to watch out
for those phony statistics which seem to make you right and
actually mean nothing at all.
From very early in this country's history up to about 1950,
one of the major causes of death and possibly the single
largest cause of long-term hospitalization in the US was
paresis (advanced syphilis), which caused insanity invariably
followed by death. Immense numbers of people died 'in the
hands of' psychiatrists, but they were killed by syphilis, not
psychiatry.
Incidentally, if CoS believes that psychiatry doews so much
harm, why doesn't it offer practical solutions in the form of
treatment instead of just attacks. Can it be that they're
really more interested in mocking up an enemy to blame for
their failings than they are in really solving any problems?
