Many religious zealots feel compelled to express their anger and resentment at having their deeply-held religious beliefs subjected to scientific, critical examination. Many of these Christian zealots seem to be greatly annoyed that the heathens among them know and understand the Christian bible far better than they do.

Lacking the wisdom to keep their mouthes shut least they make an already embarrassing situation worse, it seems a (thank the gods) small percentage of the True Believers among us just can't resist the temptation of trying to salvage their lost position.

It's not our intention to cause hurt feelings and resentment (certainly not anger) among our theistic brothers and sisters yet we certainly do attempt to make believers start to THINK! for themselves by noticing how easilly what they're told to believe is evidenced false.

Every so often one lunatic rant rises above all the rest and screams out to be noticed. Placing them into the end of the main Skeptic Tank web page wasn't enough: Atheists and theists alike enjoyed the entertaining Fundamentalist Zealot Rant of the Month section so much that a new web page had to be created.

So step up to the microphone, True Beliebers, and let's see if you can join the parade of lunatics who will believe anything your masters tell you to believe.

It's too bad that you chose to talk doctrine with rich allen, a man obviously weak in his faith and own belief; who obviously didn't know how to answer your questions. Not that I do, but I can offer some points to answer some of what rich allen avoided or weakly avoided with threats and rants. First of all, your talk of christianity as unscientific and with scientific errors and contradictions is flawed and doesn't take into account the absolute diety that God is, whose logic is beyond what our limited, insufficient human minds can come up with; you place Him in your own box by saying what He can or can't do, but this doesn't change who He is. Christianity is not about science. as c.s. lewis says, If there is "Something Behind", then either it will have to remain altogether unknown to men or else make itself known in some different way. THe statement that there is any such thing, and the statement that there is no such thing are neither of them statements that science can make. And real scientists do not usually make them. It is usually the journalists and popular novelists who have picked up a few odds and ends of half-baked science from textbooks who go in for them. After all, it really is a matter of common sense. Supposing science ever became complete so that it knew every single thing in the whole universe. Is it not plain that the questions "Why is there a universe?" "Why does it go on as it does?" "Has it any meaning?" would remain just as they were? Also, about your statement that God is only something we have invented so there is justification for doing what we truly want to do, this is an ignorant statement that was thrown out with little or no thought. Christianity is not something of "convenience", it is pretty obvious that Christianity is not about behavior that pays off for oneself. It means being happy with 5 dollars when you could have gotten 100, it means doing school work honestly when you could easily cheat, it means leaving a girl alone when you'd like to screw her, it means staying in dangerous places when you could go somewhere safer, keeping promises you don't want to keep, and telling the truth when it makes you look like a fool. And why would we do these things in and of ourselves when we would rather do what we truly want to do, why do we obey that still small voice within us when our human nature roars for the fullfilment of the flesh, certainly not because it is convinient for us or because we want to! It's because there is a moral law, and indeed there is a true God behind it.
